Current Project

Goals

  1. To examine the utility of the SCCT model in predicting, over time, the satisfaction and persistence in engineering for White women and Latino/a college students and recent graduates.
  2. To understand the role of social cognitive, environmental and cultural factors in the retention of White women and Latino/as in the engineering pipeline over time.
  3. To provide information on the generalizability of the SCCT model across gender, ethnicity, and the interaction of gender and ethnicity.
  4. To understand individual and institutional factors that influence the decision to persist or leave engineering majors, and to determine how these influences differ by gender and ethnicity over time.

Prior Projects

  1. To examine the utility of the SCCT model in predicting the satisfaction and persistence in engineering for White women and Latino/a college students and recent graduates.
  2. To understand the role of social cognitive, environmental and cultural factors in the retention of White women and Latino/as in the engineering pipeline over time. (i.e., longitudinal)
  3. To provide information on the generalizability of the SCCT model across gender, ethnicity, and the interaction of gender and ethnicity. (i.e., testing model invariance)
  4. To understand factors influencing the decision to leave engineering majors from the personal perspective of White women and Latinos/as.
